Hon’ble CM Revanth Reddy Participated in Dharna for 42% BC Reservations at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy took part in a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Thursday, demanding 42% reservations for Backward Classes (BCs) in legislatures and other sectors. The dharna, organized by several BC organizations and community leaders, aimed to draw national attention to what they describe as long-standing underrepresentation of BCs in political and public life.

Revanth Reddy, addressing the gathering, said that the demand for 42% reservation reflects the population proportion of BCs in the country and is a matter of justice, not charity. “BCs form the backbone of this country. Yet, for decades, they have been sidelined in policy-making. This protest is about fairness and equal opportunity,” he said.

He emphasized that Telangana’s government stands firmly with the BC communities and is committed to raising their issues at the national level. “This is not just a Telangana issue. It's a national issue. The time has come to correct historical imbalances,” he added.

The protest also saw participation from leaders of various political parties, social activists, and representatives from BC welfare associations. Many speakers highlighted the gap between BC population share and their representation in legislatures, government jobs, and educational institutions.

The Chief Minister's presence at the dharna is seen as a strong political signal, with Telangana pushing for broader reforms in the reservation system at the national level. Revanth Reddy urged the central government to initiate a caste-based census and implement reservation policies that genuinely reflect the social realities of India.

As the demand for increased BC reservations gains momentum, this protest at Jantar Mantar could mark a critical point in the broader conversation about social justice and representation in the country.
